Originally brewed to coincide with the All Blacks visit to Scotland in November 2017, Blindside proved so popular we’ve had to make it a permanent fixture in our line-up! This beautifully balanced Black IPA has a strong, powerful body of sweet, toasted malts, and packs down with tropical fruit flavours from the NZ hops of Waimea, Rakau and Wakatu. Designed to tackle the tastebuds, Blindside really is a scrum-ptious beer that you will want to pick every time!

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 20/02/21. Mid black with a well presented lasting khaki cap ... a good looker. Nose is cocoa powder, brown sugars, light dusty hops. Taste comprises dried fruits, raisins, light chocolate, toffee, hint of pine, brown bread, brown sugar tingle. dark malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close splashed with mellow hop bitterness. Not going to come top of class for style but a decent enough number.

Bottle from Taste of Grampian. It pour black with a substantial tan head. The aroma is chewy, rich roasted malt, chocolate cake, toasty grain, umami, liquorice, tangerine and marmalade. The taste is dry, bitter, chewy, roasted malt, unami, cocoa, chocolate cake, tannin, liquorice, bitter orange peel, peppery spice and some dark fruit with a pretty dry finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. A bit chewy and toothy perhaps, but not bad.

Bottle shared with TO on board Baluba 16.05.18. Ebony. Small head. Aroma and taste of roasted malt, vanilla, dark chocolate and cigar box. Some citrusy bitterness. Too moderately hopped for a black IPA, but a good ale anyhow.
