Rum Barrel Aged 'Unfourseen Consequences'

A strong Belgian Quad dry-nibbed with cacao and aged in rum barrels. The aroma brings a thick smouldering liquor oozing salted caramel, toffee, raisin, and roasted banana that drowns in a deeply oaked murk. It battles across the palate like double cream bursting with vanilla, toffee, rum, banana, and milk chocolate whilst the wood brings a more ancient spiced character. The finish is big, brash, and mouldering with rum. Liquid toffee, brandied raisins, dark choclate, Geurnsey Cream, centuries of pirate misadventure - the potent lovechild of the ancient Trappiste Apothecarian, Davey Jones and Willy Wonka.

Hop Locker 1. Keg. Hazy deep red - amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is smooth and fairly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Quite thin malts, creamy. Tangy rum and raisin. Sprinkle of nuts. Ripe fruits. Creamy tangy finish. Raisin linger. Nice enough but could do with something else to bring it all together.
