Unfiltered German-style Helles

Marie-Ange (1907 – 1996) is our maternal great-grandmother, fondly remembered as Mémé. Born in Quebec, she emigrated to the Northeast Kingdom with her husband Edward J. Fournier. In her honor, we brew a beautifully soft, Unfiltered and naturally carbonated German-style Helles. Lightly hazy, naturally carbonated and truly enjoyable, this is the beer we dream to have shared with Marie.

Tap at the monks cafe in Philadelphia PA. A very clear pale golden yellow coloured pour with a frorhy white head. Aroma is earthy cereal, grass waxy, green apple gooseberry. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, simple cereal, spelt, corn, light grassy, herbal. Palate is semi crisp, rounded. Corny. Simple, well done.

On tap at Monk’s Cafe in Philadelphia. Bright yellow gold color. Pillowy white head. Grainy malt aroma hints at lemon and herbs. Flavor is light bread, sweet grain and lemon zest. Clean, smooth and effortless on the palate. Tasty.

Light, dry, hoppy, malty. Super crisp and clean, some cereal, a touch of sweetness, lemony florals, a perfect dry finish. Man this is good.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from the brewery. Pours crystal clear yellow-gold with a frothy, white head. Lovely pale biscuits, straw, a nip of dough. Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation iron. Sweet finish, fresh pale grains, low bitterness, hay, straw, biscuits. Excellent.

Can from the source. This edition has apparently enjoyed an extended 3 months of lagering. It pours clear golden with a small white head. The aroma is fresh lagery goodness, cracker, biscuit, hay, nougat, cereal, grassy, floral accents, honeysuckle and light herbal vibes. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, clean, hint of bitterness, underlying sweetness, biscuit, cracker, brioche, cereal, airy malts, grassy, floral, herbal accents and a touch of peppery spice with a dry finish. Lighter end of medium body and fine+ carbonation. Super mellow and quenching, balanced and moreish. If I am being picky I would like a touch more carbonation to elevate to the max. Tasty quench juice.
