Pre-solar eclipse taster at Big Muddy. No doubt about it, a big pumpkin spice smell, and there is a note pumpkin sweetness. A slightly cloudy gold color with a thin scrum of suds on top. Taste is very big on pumpkin spice; cinnamon and nutmeg are very easy to pick out. This is the kind of pumpkin beer that has a creamy texture, like whipped cream on your pumpkin pie, that dies seem to occur with the use of actual pumpkin.

Sample at Kurtkeller 017: Pumpkin-tastic 02 on 10/13/2014. Cloudy amber color with a medium foamy off-white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing. Aroma of nutmeg, roast malt and caramel. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt and pumpkin spices. The finish is sweet with a malt and nutmeg aftertaste. Decent overall.

6% a bottle picked up at Bottles & Cans in Chicago(great place to make mix 4 or 6-packs!). Served in a pint glass. It pours a light amber with a thin fizzy off-white head. The aroma is a fruity apple cinnamon though less so than O’Fallon’s Pumpkin Beer. This has a bit more pumpkin and nutmeg in the nose. Medium bodied with a lively carbonation. This beer is a candyish cinnamon monster with gingerbread cookies, nutmeg and pumpkin as well. Good but very sweet. Think halloween cookies.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 11/17/13

Aroma: The nose is bread and "off" malts with some spice, not that pumpkiny or nutmegy though
Appearance: It pours a cloudy orange-gold color with a small head and drippy lace
Flavor: The taste is sweet and malty, some spice, vanilla, and a mild earthiness as well
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has an alright mouthfeel, and a tingly, lightly dry finish
Overall Impression: This beer being not really all that impressive to go along with being not really all that pumpkiny makes for a mediocre score from me.

12oz bottle. Murky unfiltered tanned-orange. Creamy pumpkin pie flavors, well balanced. All your big classic pumpkin pie spices. Smooth caramel malts. Well done.

Rich, hazy orange coloured body with a fast-dying two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of squash, tons of light spices, earth, caramel, light chocolate and a lot more dense and full-bodied squash notes. Full-bodied; Strong squash, pumpkin and earthy flavour up front with a lot of malt, caramel and spices noticeable. Aftertaste shows a lot of chocolate tastes, some herbs and coriander seed, tucked with nutmeg, allspice and cloves and showing a very strong dense flavour. Overall, a nice and rather strong pumpkin and squash flavoured beer. If you are looking for a dense pumpkin flavour, look no further than this one - perhaps the strongest i’ve ever had, related to the squash! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Binny’s (South Loop) in Chicago, Illinois on 21-August-2013 for US$1.67 sampled at home in Washington on 21-September-2013.

Pour is a clear copper with a nice white head. Aroma is pumpkin spices and the flavor follows the same. It’s a decent pumpkin beer but not as overpoweing with pumpkin as some. I guess I’m spoiled by Schalfly’s pumpkin.

Draft at Hangar. Probably the best beer I’ve had yet from Big Muddy. Lots of pumpkin and spices. I would gladly drink this again.
