Sample at GABF 10/03/2014, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Brown-black color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lace. Aroma of roast malt and dark chocolate. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, earthy hops and chocolate. The finish is bittersweet chocolate and malt. Pretty good overall.

Wanted the lower alcohol beers on my first flight while visiting the Liberty Station Stone outlet on 17th march 2014: this slotted right into that ’lower alcohol’ bracket. Black in the sunlight, with a tanned foam covering. The nose was all ’over roasted’ maltiness with coffee and bitter dark chocolate esters to the fore. Those two aromas also shaped the taste giving a mocha feel to the flavours. The hops gave a dry bitter bite to the brew with the malts offering little in sweetness to counter them. A pleasant and different beer from Stone to anything I’d had before.
