The first sip of this brilliant, red-brown beer reveals a robust mouth feel and complex flavors including raisin, dark bread, some sherry flavors sure to increase with age, resin hops, a touch of old barrel. With the finish comes the aroma and flavor of Columbus hops in your mouth, being followed by the alcohol warmth that can be felt down your throat.

Reviewed from notes. Consumed on my AZ trip last week.
The appearance had a light somewhat clear brown color. bar pour leads to a half finger white foamy head, adequate light foamy lacing.
The smell had a llight caramel maltiness leading into an inviting raisinous and also bitter citrusy hoppiness.
The taste was bitter and sweet at different times through the caramel malts and raisins to mix with the bitter citrusy hops. not much of an aftertaste, in fact I really don’t get anything, sweet dry finish.
On the palate, it sat at/about a medium on the palate. not really sessionable, but its a barleywine so whaddaya expect. The carbonation is good for the style and for me.
Overall, this was a good barleywine that I would have again, slightly hoppier than some so that makes me think its an American one.

Tap at the Denver tap room - fairly good American-style barleywine here - soft, creamy, full, and round in the mouth - quite bright, fruity, and floral - sweet, with notes of plum, caramel, but not overly sweet - there is also a fair amount of balancing hop character - pepper, pine, medium bitterness - could be more complex, but quite enjoyable.

Dark amber color. One dimensional. Sweet malty nose. So uncomplex, simplicitic and boring. Nothing but sweetness and uninterestingness. Shit. Can’t recommend this at all.

A hazed orange amber with a thin creamy light mocha head. In aroma, loads of treacle malt with floral hops, doughy character and warming alcohol. In mouth, a sweet biscuit malt with doughy character, piney hops, anised and warming alcohol, raspy mouthfeel.

Peanut hull, pencil shaving nose with caramel and pine accents. Clear rust, thin yellow head, decent lacing. Cherry and orange peel dominated flavor. Definite woody character withg boysenberries. Walnuts and resinous pine finish. Medium body and easy carbonation. Damn, that’s a fine barleywine.

Bottle @ home picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a hazy reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Zesty, orange blossom, potpourri, caramel, a bit boozy, but unique aroma. A touch tart, big grape, plum fruity, very floral, spicy potpourri, a bit citrusy, somewhat earthy, slightly resiny flavor. Slightly boozy and quite floral. Unique and pretty fun to drink.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 5/18/12, Release #2

Aroma: This one has a sweet nose with lots of caramel, some toasted malts, and a little booze
Appearance: It pours a dark orange-brown color with a small head and some spotty lacing
Flavor: Tastes pretty sweet, heavy on malts, a little brown sugar, plus a good bit of bozzy flavor
Palate: The body is medium-full, with a slightly cloyingness to the feel, and a good amouth of heat
Overall Impression: This is a decent Barley Wine, but it is quite sweet, almost to the point of being cloying. I would have liked a little more balance. The 10.1% isn't really all that well-hidden either. I gave this one a couple of months, but maybe it could have used a little longer then that to develop.
