22 ounce bottle into signature pint glass; release #17, bottled 3/16/2012. Pours crystal clear very dark reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a lot of streaming carbonation. Very highly carbonated, definitely infected. Aromas of cherry, raisin, pear, caramel, roasted malt, toast, light chocolate, and yeast earthiness. Poor aromas with hardly any roasted presence; over the top fruitiness from the infection. Taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, light char, pear, caramel, toast, toffee, light nuttiness. and roasted earthiness. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, light char, toast, caramel, toffee, light nuttiness, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Despite the infection; there is some nice balance of roasted and dark malt flavors; with no cloying flavors after the finish. Very high carbonation and medium bodied; with a creamy, crisp, and moderately prickly mouthfeel that isn’t too bad. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a solid stout even though it was infected. Some good balance of roasted and dark malt flavors; and quite smooth to drink. I will have to score a different batch sometime and give it another shot.

Enjoying batch #21 of Epic’s 825 State Stout. 5.7% it has a lovely chocolate aroma & it pours black with a beige head. Some roast coffee notes, hints of smokey bacon & chocolate. Very nice & easy to drink!

Medium roast coffee nose, not strong. Brown, thin tan head. Sweet soil flavor, medium roast coffee. Coffee notes are more pronounced toward the end. Solid.

22oz bomber, not quite opaque. Thin beige head. A pretty nice moderate ABV Stout. Roasty chocolate tones, Not much hop flavor, maybe a little for balance. Balanced this one is, a nice amount of depth, but still very drinkable. Like the description states: somewhere between Cream, Dry, and Foreign Stout. RIght on, solid offering.

Total Wine, Fairfax 650ml ($5ish): Pours a dark brown with a very light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, along with a bit of burntness, and some chocolate. Taste is very minimally sweet. Roasted malts are what is going on for the most part with a burnt finish. This is hardly a sweet stout. I do not know who claimed that. There is also a cheap tin coffee taste up in this. This is good, but in no way outstanding.

Sample at the House Wine EPIC beer tasting on 04/18/2012: This beer is black with a medium tan head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Roasty aroma of malt and coffee. Medium body with a toasty malt character and notes of mild coffee, chocolate and a touch of hops. The finish is roasty with a sweet malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

On nitro tap at Apex, pours red tinged dark brown / black with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, nitrous oxide and bitter chocolate. Flavour of bitter chocolate malt, dry toasted bread and a metallic, bitter malt finish. Not terribly stimulating, with the stale metallic notes being quite annoying. Decent.

Bottle from a trade with Gription79. Release #12, 5.8 ABV. Pours dark brown color with tan head. Aroma of roasted malts. Roasted malt flavor with some bittersweet chocolate and a slightly ashy finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Thanks Dallas.
