Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep brown to black with a nice lacy fawn head. Nose - chocolate and light resin. Taste - chocolate and caramel. Missing the centennial really. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - ok.

Cask at CBC Islington with Henrik. Pours deeply brown with a foamy, tan head. The nose has some ashy roast, burnt pine. Light sweet flavour with bitter cocoa, some earth, more pine, orange rind. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Nice balance in the finish, more mellow ashy roast, cocoa, burnt toast. Good one.

Bottle picked up at The Torrside Brewery Open Weekend, New Mills, Derbyshire December 2016, consumed at home Sunday 18th December 2016 I thought dark brown but have changed that now as it’s all but black, it’s Guinness like in appearance. This is quite a hoppy, modern style porter, there is a roasty tang but really the hops do the talking, but it’s also quite smooth. As with most of the Torrside beers, I rather like this (I’m a fanboy I guess). A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.6

Manchester Beer & Cider Festival 2016. Black with an off-white head. Hoppy in the main, with some dark malts providing an edge to the light tropical fruitiness that exists within the ale.
