Handpull cask at the Plasterers Arms, Norwich. Very dark brown yet somewhat translucent. Slight whitish head on top and a fair bit of lacing. Milky vanilla pod and light coffee notes in the aroma. The taste isnโ€™t overwhelmingly sweet like so many milds: this one has a nice hoppy note in the finish. Long bitter finish with more vanilla cream. Thin body but hey, itโ€™s a mild. Good stuff.

Cask @ Sir Titus Salt, Bradford. Very dark clear red with a creamy off-white head. Has a very appealing and smooth tasting vanilla aroma and taste. Potent in the former.

On cask at Three Tuns, Dronfield - Deep ruby red to black body, thick tan head. Nose is a lovely woody vanilla aroma, like a smoked ice-cream if there is such a think. Taste has a smoky bitterness, with a sweet ice-cream undertone. A bit thin for my liking, but other than that - excellent..

Hand-pulled half-pint in The Crown Inn, Oakengates on 17th Feb 2014. Pours a deep, dark brown with a tanned head of foam, looks pretty good. More Mild than vanilla in aroma and taste, a semi-sweet maltiness rules the waves with the vanilla a long way back in second place. Rich and full for such a weak alcohol strength, one of Rudgates better brews in my opinion.
