Massively hopped DIPA brewed in collaboration with Frazer (Raw Hop Talk) and Dan (HopGod Nomadic Brewing) Frazer picked three unusual hops El Dorado, Amarillo and Mandarina Bavaria and we then used them in ridiculous quantities and every stage of the brew and dry hopping process. The result is a murky orange DIPA with massive bitterness, massive fruitiness and a surprisingly dank backbone.

Hazy brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy and mildly dry, decent carbonation. Soft malts. light and with good creamy sweetness, some caramel in there. Tangy orange and a little lemon, touch of dry sherbet. Mild pine. Light finish. Really nice balance of caramel malt sweetness and sharp citric sherbet. A bit off the beaten track.

500ml bottle from Appellation Wines, Dalry Road. Pours murky as hell, brown, thin white head. Aroma is dank, in an earthy way. Forest floor. Taste is sweet, oily citrus. Sticky finish. Not for me.

Bottle from Beer Revolution, Hay on Wye (thanks to Isobel for picking this up for me) consumed at home, Sunday 23rd October 2016 Nice colour, admittedly its very hazy (huge hop content no doubt) but it’s a pumpkin orange colour. This is an absolute beast of a DIPA, hugely hoppy, massive malty backbone. On the nose it’s resiny, lots of sweet citrus a little bready, some overripe fruit. Taste is great, ok perhaps it’s a little sweet but the balancing act between malts & hops to reign in the bitterness must have been quite a juggle, I guess this is very much in the American DIPA style. Really thick in the mouth, fresh and juicy hops, it’s a touch warm (boozy), sweet orangey flavours, but big maltiness. This is great, it’s not without its flaws but I really like it. Bottle from The Beerhive. Murky amber body with a thin off-white head. Good lacing. Aroma of mango, caramel, marmalade and pine. Flavour of brown bread, toffee, overripe pineapple and peppery rye. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Sticky and fruity. I found this to be a bit too sweet and malty, but I still enjoyed it. Easy drinking for the ABV.
