Originally a collab with our friends at Electric Nurse, this is a deliciously sticky, fruity and bold beer. that drinks easy for its strength. It boasts chewy toffee and date-notes with a spicy edge that is subtly reminiscent of Swedish gingerbread.

Semmi hab, barna szín. Mézes, gabonás, karamelles illat, enyhe aszalt gyümölcsös beütéssel. Gabonás, karamelles, enyhén fűszeres és leheletnyit gyümölcsös ízek. Testes, édes, enyhén szénsavas, enyhén keserű. Kellemes, jól összerakott sör.

330ml bottle, batch 0448, kindly shared by Finn at Agenturet Øl og Vinbar. Clear copper coloured body, bubbly, off-white head, spotty lacing on the glass. smell of caramel malts and grain, dry. Compact taste profile of caramel, dried fruits, almond, bread and a syrup bite. Malt-fruity ending warming down the swallow. Pretty nice, rather sweet tough. (Tromsø 25.06.2019).

Dark amber beer with an off-white head. Smells quite light, sweet and fruit. Flavour is a very different ball-game. There's still fruit in there but it's in the mix with whisky, malt, zesty hops and a touch of caramel too. Interesting to have a hoppy IPA feel added to a fruity barley wine but the mix is just right. Lovely stuff.

Collab of Weird Beard with Electric Nurse, a – to me – unknown microbrewery in Götheborg, Sweden. American style barleywine, bottled in June 2017 so one and a half year old (batch 0448). Mousy, loosely structured, irregular, thinnish, pale greyish white head, open and unstable, over a lightly hazed, coppery bronze beer with warm ruddy hue, clouded with sediment. Aroma of candied dates, sweet chestnut, old cheese rind and even a touch of blue cheese in the background, dried orange peel, subtle grapefruit, brown rum, stewed blue plums, apple cake, white pepper, hay. Sweet onset, figs and raisins with a sourish apple- and plum-like undertone, softish carb, vinous and supple, bit slightly sticky mouthfeel, bit oily. Sweetish hazelnutty and caramelly malt body with a light toasty bitter edge in the end, accentuated by a dried citrus-peel-like, leafy and peppery hop bitterness, which again releases cheesy notes retronasally due to age. Bittersweet ending but more sweet than bitter, gently heated by rum-like alcohol, with bready yeasty and oily hoppy aspects. Typical modern barleywine, a bit too old already for an American style one, with the hops having turned cheesy – though I personally can appreciate this effect probably more than I should…

(Bottle) Reddish amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with notes of caramel, black-currant, pink grapefruit, resin, orange peel and hints of burnt rubber. Malty, hoppy taste with caramel, black-currant, rye bread, treacle-toffee, grapefruit, resin and a generous citric, resiny bitterness in a slightly vinous finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well made barley wine with a generous hop presence. Very nice.
