I obtained a 12 oz bottle at an upscale liquor store in Colorado Springs early this summer. Packaged on 10/21/20 I am informed by the label. Tonight I will use my New Belgium globe glass for the sampling. The pour is a dark caramel-colored body with a here-and-gone ring of very fine, tan bubbles. I smell a number of interesting notes, roasted grain, toffee and booze. The taste is likewise interesting, not quite what I thought it would be. I get caramel, wheat bread, a touch of bitterness, syrup and alcohol. If not for the thinness I could have appreciated this brew somewhat more.

On tap at Apex, pours a filthy opaque dark reddish brown with a medium beige head. Aroma reveals loads of red wine barrels, with dark fruits, and caramel malt. Flavour is even more vinous, with lots of woody red wine barrels, dark dried fruits, and caramel malts. Very vinous, tannic and moderately sweet. Looks terrible, tastes great. Very nice.

On Tap Murky medium brown. Caramel malty aromas. Toasted malt flavors, with lots of barley wine maltiness and pitted fruit flavors. Smooth slick body. A little woody tanin character and a late slow ABV burn. Smooth and strong. Mellow. Tasty.

Sample on Day 3 of the Aces & Ales Strong Beer Festival on 08/14/2011. The beer is a clear dark amber-brown color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Top ring of lacing on the glass. Aroma of toffee, bourbon and malt. Rich body with flavors of caramel malt, oak, sweet spices and hops. The finish is sweetly spiced with a lasting toffee aftertaste. Enjoyable all around.

On tap at EcoBrew fest and I know I had this in December at the Portland location. O well pours out a dark brown with some red highs topped with a small tan head. Aroma was very nice lots of sweetness pit fruit, some brown sugar and a little spice. Taste was more of the sweetness. Plenty of the pit fruit, vanilla, and some of that bourbon oak.

Called a Super Jubel Spiced and advertised as 7.6 ABV. Served in a snifter. Aroma of anise. Flavor of anise, cinnamon and nutmeg. Some hops in the finish. Fascinating.
