Bottle courtesy of Colin, thanks! Almost black, small tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee beans, licorice. Taste is anise, espresso. Nice.

Thick cream head, quite stable over very dark red-brown to cola-coloured beer. Nice vinous, complex nose, with red wine, alcohol, wood, bit of chocolated and lots of fruity USA hops, slightly dry. Bitter to very bitter, with chocolate, dark but bitter fruit, tad of liquorice. Again lots of dry, powerful hops with lots of resin/pine and a bit of fruitiness (rosewater, lytchee). Despite the bitterness overload, the beer invites to drink more all the time. Very rich, but surprisingly little viscosity, just the hopoils leaving a filmy texture on the mucoses. Well-bodied. Excellent. Night & day with the AB:08.

Bottle shared with (and great courtasy of) the fantastic Bergen tasting crew with such stars as ClubGonzo, Inbreak and Palme, and the mighty StoreMy. Has an unclear deep brown color with a medium light beige head. Nice aroma of dried fruits, dark berries, dark chocolate, roasted, leather and pine. In the flavour I still sence a touch of pine trees, but also sweet berries, coffee and tobacco. Feels smooth and soft in the mouth, with a medium bitterness. A fantastic beer, and has a nice balance.

Almost black with a subtle red colour. Tan head. A lovely deep grape hoppy aroma with some fruity notes. It is possible to use the whole pocket of adjectives when describing the flavour of this beer. Lovely mixed flavour with a lot of hoppy grape. Fruity and some sweet caramel. Also a lot of stout flavours like chocolate and licorice.
Amazing grace. I want more!

30/06/2011 Birra+ (375ml bottle). Corpo pieno, carbonazione corretta. Per me una delle migliori Abstrakt.

375mL bottle, brought back from the UK by the amazing Matts_Property. Pours a near-black with a reddish tinge and a small beige head. Aroma is hoppy, tropical fruity, and caramely, with a great aromatic balance of hop, roasted and sweet qualities. Flavour resembles the nose very closely, with notes of roasted malt, espresso, caramel, and the perfect level of hops. Finishes roasty and hoppy. Medium-to-full bodied with less of a bitter finish than most black IPAs. Excellent.

37,5cl bottle, # 2671. Poured almost black with a brown head, thin. Aroma is lovely, fruity hops, ryebread, licorice. Flavor is fruity hoppy, roasted malt and licorice with some dark fruity notes later on. Slight warming alcohol in finish, otherwise alcohol well hidden. Oily, sticky mouthfeel. Very bitter and dry finish with some roastedness. Didn´t really live up to my expectations, still a nice dessert beer.

Bottle. Almost black with a small, tan head. Nice aroma of licorice, hops, pine, ash and roasted malt. The taste was not as good as the aroma but still descent. The finish was bitter.
