Bottle at Appellation Wines tasting. Hazy golden/amber body with no head. Aroma of marmalade and honey. Flavour of orange and chutney. Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Sweet and hoppy. Not very complex but quite nice.

Bottle thanks to minutemat. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - oranges but dominated by malt. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - solid but not inspiring.

330ml bottle: BBE of Jul 17. Poured into my huge ’Judas’ glass at home on 22nd Nov 15. Slight haze to the terracotta/amber body, the head a wisp and collar even though it was a robust pouring because of the glass size. The nose suggests oak aging and Barley Wine like esters with a richness and smoothness, an alcoholic soaked fruit basket of aromas that carries on into the mouth. The taste is malts first with a hop undertone, easy drinking with an alcohol and fruity kick evident from the first sip to the last. This is a feet up by the fire sort of beer, lovely all round feel to it. The best beer I have had from Monty’s by far.

330ml bottle from Appleyards, Shrewsbury. Pours a hazy mahogany brown with a medium off-white head. Aroma is malt and light dark fruits. Taste is nicely balanced and drinkable thanks to a restrained hop presence. Some berries coming through. It’s definitely a Montys ale, but with added strength.
