Bottle thanks to Robert all the way from Sweden. Thanks! Pours a jet black color with a small swirl of head. The aroma is big sugary barrel and dark fruit. Huge flavors, dark sweet fruit, whiskey, oak, heat in the finish. When it hits your throat you know. Very smooth, the 20% is almost totally hidden. Lovely big beer. Awesome.

Bottle courtesy of milsem. Pours blackish dark brown with a very small goldenish mocha head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissiapting. Smell is malty and savoury with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, charred wood, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, ketjap manis, moist soil, raisins, prunes, green chili and alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and fruity. Mouthfeel is round, viscous, very tiny tart, astringent, boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasty malts, dried dark fruits, soy, ammonium choride and alcohol. Bit over the top but still manages to be quite allright.

Pikkalintu, Helsinki. Bottle. Kindly shared by 2 beer enthusiasts with a 10 euro contribution from me. Almost opaque dark brown beer, tiny tan head. Intoxicating nose, literally! Palate us surprisingly light and mildly dry. Finely crisp. Rich but thin dark chocolate. Lots of whiskey but it’s never overwhelming or too fiery. Fruity whiskey and dark fruits. Light warming finish, slight spirity linger. Obviously a strong beer but I reckon you would be hard placed to put this at 20% if you did not know. Tasty and drinkable and satisfying.

Bottle, batch 858. Pours pitch black, with a small and short lived mocha head. Quite complex aroma of dark roasted malts with wooden barrels, whisky and coffee, as well as liquorice, camphor and tobacco and notes of chocolate, herbs and deep forest. Creamy body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet dark roasted malts, with bread, coffee, wood and liquorice, as well as muscovado, dark chocolate, honey, leather and notes of dark fruits. Lingering sweet malty finish. Very balanced, smooth and drinkable, and although the alcohol is noticeable it’s pleasant and well integrated.
