One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. Carnegie Porter was brewed for the first time in 1836 and tastes the same today as it did then. Carnegie Porter has a creamy head with a scent of coffee. Its sweet and well rounded flavor is balanced by the bitterness of the hops. Storage helps the flavor mature and enhances its harmony.

33 cl. bottle split with Dylan / Kraddel - purchased from an online retailer / shop - dark brown / black, little mocha / tanned head - nose carries soy, wild berries, dark fruits, coffee, nuts, lightly milky, touch chocolate - tastes of soy, berries, twigs, mocha, coffee, darker malts, fruits, toffee - light bodied in a good way - this is kinda weird with the soy / wild berries overtones - weird dude

Bottle. Pours a clear very dark brown with a brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has some dry dark grains with a bit of sweet chocolate and just a smidge of earthy coffee. Flavor has earthy dark grains and chocolate with a hint of mild coffee and just a touch of dryness in the finish.

33 cl. bottle from Systembolaget Luleå, 2010 vintage. Pours black with a creamy, tan head. Aroma with hops and caramel malts, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, dark, dried fruits and honey. Sweet and light roasted taste. Medium body with a creamy texture. Finishes with dark chocolate, honey and a slight bitterness. Very well balanced porter with an impressive price/taste ratio. Would love to try this one again in an older vintage.

2009 bottle side by side with 2003 vintage at Hakket, Gothenberg. Both pour dark brown with a tan head, smaller on the older vintage. Roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee in the aroma. The flavours really separate the two vintages, this is a beer that really improves with age. The younger version is a little light, medium sweet and bitter with flavours matching the nose. The older vintage makes the flavours fuller adding some port and light plum aspects. Medium bodied with soft to moderate carbonation.

Bottles, vintage 2002 and 2010 at a tasting in Uppsala, July 2012. Thanks konstifik. I preferred the bottle from 2002. (the rating is for that one) The color was very dark brown with a minimal head. A lot of chocolate cake, some port wine. Some oxidation, but nothing that bothered. The mouth feel was creamy. I guess that a bottle from 2004/05 might be the best one at the moment.

33cl bottle (vintage 2010) from Systembolaget. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, dark fruits and hints of hops and caramel. Sweet and lightly roasty with dark chocolate flavour and a mildly bitter finish. Quite well balanced, not too sweet. Lightly roasty aftertaste with hints of chocolate and spices.

Argang 2010 Huge, very dense & fine, very creamy dark-tan head over red-brown shot black beer. Very roasted/sweet aroma, roasted beans & chocolate. Again roasted to burnt flaovur. Dry woody, also cardboard; bitterness is there, but seems much more roasted than hoppy in character, the very finish maybe excepted. A bit of chocolate, certainly warming up, but I hardly get any coffee. Feels very well-bodied, aided by its low attenuation, creamy texture from the head, giving the impression of being very rich. Good, if a bit unidimensional porter. Txs to Mathieu & sis!

vintage 2007 from ølbutikken, tasted mar. 2012. bbf 23 apr 2017 acc. to label. very very dark amber, smooth very light brown head. quite complex aroma, although also somewhat oxidized notes in there.roasted malts, chocolate, licorice, dusty, wet-cellar like note. flavor is roasted malts, caramel, coffee, light oxidation, licorice. The flavor is way more heavy and full than what you would expect in a 5.5% brew.patale is thick, body is full. Nice one.

Almost black, brown rich head. Chocolate and coffee aroma but also some metallic. Taste going towards the chocolate as well. Rather short but agreable.
