In 2015, Reade, Rich, Sarah and Sam brought Bitter Descent, an American ESB, to the market.

The British bitter journeyed far. It evolved, loyal to its balanced roots but more hop-forward. This year’s beer was an extra special bitter amped-up to American proportions. All-British malts, all-American hops, a beer of bitter descent.

Bottle at home, from Royal Mike Whisky. It pours deep amber with a decent off-white head. The nose is bitter-sweet, juicy, biscuit, toffee, fruit cake and nut. The taste is bitter, piney action, toffee, baked goods, biscuit and some candied peel with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Great balance and high drinkability. Very drinkable.

33cl bottle from Beer52.com. A slightly hazy amber pour with a fast fading white head; sweet orangey fruit aroma; rather thin malty body with a pleasant earthy bitterness; and some caramel to finish. Pleasant to really too thin.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep amber with a decent head. Nose - toffee and oranges. Taste - loads of oranges with big biscuit note and toffee. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - great example of the style.

330ml can from Appelation Wines, Dalry - cheers Ash! Pours hazy golden amber with a thin ring of white head. Aromas of red fruits, toffee malt. Taste is malt, light herbal, almost menthol note, then light citrus and pine. Medium body, light sweet caramel on the finish. Quite a bit going on.

Bottle from Drinkmonger and cask at The Other Place - review is a combination of the two. Clear amber body with an off-white head. Light lacing. Aroma of orange, mango and overripe pineapple. Flavour of orange marmalade, mandarin and a peppery finish. Thin to medium body with an oily texture. Light fizz. The juicy hops work really well. A very good, hoppy Bitter.
