Our Hill 88 Double IPA employs a simple but sturdy malt backbone to balance an assertive hop aroma and flavor. It is named after one of the highest spots in the Marin Headlands and in the early days we might have sought inspiration there over a beer or two. Maybe.

Can. Pours hazy orange, small off-white head, creamy with good lacing. Aroma is pine, perfume, herbal notes. Flavor is pine, herbal, medium sweet and heavy heavy bitter. Medium body. A very harshly bitter experience.

16 oz. can. Mostly clear gold with lasting head retention. Aroma is sweet and fruity. The flavor is pretty hoppy upfront with grapefruit, lemon and sweet bread malts. The bitterness is very low for 88 IBU. Would not have guessed that much bitterness from this beer. Mostly fruity flavor with a strong backbone of sweeter malts. Has a pilsner mouthfeel with the higher ABV punch. Overall a sweeter DIPA that paired well with my beef brisket sandwich and potato salad. Overall solid but know it is more on the sweet side.
