Bottle from Saucy Pears. Appearance - deep amber with a lovely fluffy head. Nose - grapefruit and a light fruitcake note. Taste - earthy, spicy, more cake and more citrus. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - this is really good.

Cask at the Hops and Glory - Lobdon. Pours clear orange-gold with a frothy white head. Doughy bread in the nose, some butterscotch. Light-medium sweet flavor with more butterscotch, some toffee, ripe fruits, citrus, lots of bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with yet more toffee, vanilla, butterscotch, very faint leafy bitterness, some hay, berries. Quite a simplistic beer but drinkable enough.

Earl of Essex. Cask. Clear amber beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is light and dry, again the EofE dusty feel. Light malts with a trace of unsweet toffee. Tired ripe orange. Light dry finish. Tastes knackered.

Pint on tap at the Royal Hop Pole JDW, Tewkesbury. Cask, The Colour is deep amber with a very thin off white head. The aroma has nutty malt, but not the hops I expected. The taste again disappointing with not the level of hops the lable said. More traditional bitter and as such very drinkable.

Bottle from Brewer’s Droop, Bristol. Deep amber with a slight, off-white head and a trace of carbonation. Aroma of weetabix, floral hops, blood orange and something spicy. Full mouth feel, with some biscuity malts, plenty more citrus fruits and decent, bitter finish. Very drinkable.
