Cask at Swan Inn, Farnborough. Sweet floral aroma, what there is of it. Dark amber. Off white head, but unattractively blotchy. Light bitter start, then increasingly sweet. Bitter aftertaste. Fruit, berries, some malt. Light bodied, almost frothy. Easy drinking.

Cask at the Bear (JDW), Maidenhead at 5% ABV. An attractive reddish chestnut colour with a loose cream head; slightly sour, earthy aroma; rather thin in the mouth with a malty caramel taste; then a dry finish with a spicy earthy bitterness.

27th June 2015: hand-pulled half pint in The Bacchus, Birmingham City Centre. Ruby hue to the dark amber body, the head off-white. Biscuit like malt lead in both the aroma and taste, semi-sweet with very little bitterness. OK rather than ’cracking’.

On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - deep amber with a nice head. Nose - caramel or fudge. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a finish that is a little too sweet. Overall - needs more hops or biscuit bitterness.

Cask at the Haymarket. Pours clear amber, bubbly white head. Aromas are butterscotch, light floral notes. Taste is light bitter, also yeast and butter. Thin body, astringent finish. Not for me.
