375mL capped bottle poured into a Queue de Charrue tasting goblet glass. The beer pours with a fizzy yet fast fading head, actually seems a bit forced. Color is dark cherry juice red, clear but too dark to see through. Aroma is unsweetened cherry juice and almost a lambic-like tartness, similar to Brett L. Love the combination, a much more lambic-y Flanders aroma. Flavor is unsweetened cherry juice with a very dry finish. Its not sour and just lightly tart and very drying, man I love it. Nice effervescent mouthfeel that tingles the tongue. Leaves behind a dry tart cherry flavor. Well I am sold, I really enjoy this, I am not sure about all the low ratings. Bottom of the bottle is filtered clean. I wouldn’t call this a traditional Flanders Red but more cherry, younger, and livelier. Almost like they took the Fond Tradition and added it to a fruity red ale. I think Van Honsebrouck just knows what I like when it comes to the sour end of the spectrum. Can’t believe it too me this long to drink this, just didn’t expect much.

(370mL bottle from LCBO) Pours a fairly dark reddish brown with a thin off-white head. The aroma is relatively faint, with vinegar, crab apple, a bit of wine. Flavour initially somewhat sweet, some sour apple and cherry, lemon, vinegar and wood. Fairly faint, ends with little aftertaste at all, just a little cherry and light sour. Sourness not as pronounced. Mouthfeel is light, carbonation is high though fairly fizzy. Nothing off about it, but an uninspiring sour.

Aroma is somewhat sour with pine needles and cherries. Flavour is acidic and somewhat sour with woody notes and some cherries. Oud bruins are not my thing.

375ml bottle. Pours a hazy dark dark brown with a small head. Aroma is sweet, with some woody vinegar. Taste has a sharp vinegar start. Sweet and lightly sour finish, which is a bit thin and short.

Good example of Vlaams oud Bruin. Redbrown colour, sour and sweet. Some notes of vinegar.

Bottle shared at tasting. Pours clear red with medium pinkish head. Aroma of cherries. Flavour is heavy sweet, a little light sourness behind. Seems too artificially sweetened covering what could be better sour flavours below.

37.5cl bottle shared with friends. Thin white head. Clear cherry aroma. Clear red pour. Cherry aftertaste with some sweetness.

sampled 33 cl. bottle @ Black Fré’s Forest BBQ // in a neat paper wrapping as the other Bacchus beers // amber ruby brown, head quickly disappears, basically no head as far as I am concerned // smells like sweet sour malts & sweet berries, touch sweet wood // taste is sweet soar malts, I am definitely getting cola, no one else was, sweet berries & wood, sweet brown bread, more cola, some sugar // soft carb, slick body // as far as sweet “sour” beers go, this is not bad, no off-flavours, you don’t pick up oodles of artificial sweetener, goes down easy, it is not particularly amazing or has incredibly flavours going on but it goes down well

Bottle.Fruity sour cherry, plum and oak aroma. Chestnut with a small, quickly dissipating tan head. Sour cherry, light balsamic vinegar, woody flavor. Light crisp body, lively carbonation. Very refreshing.
