Bacchus Flemish Old Brown surprises with a taste reminiscent of wine and offers a beautiful balance between sweet and sour. This beer impresses through both its sourness and the slight touch of caramel brought by the roasted malt. However, its sourness is less pronounced than the sourness of other Flemish red-brown beers. Therefore, Bacchus Flemish Old Brown is a very refreshing beer with a pleasant aftertaste. A beer full of character and history!

Bottle, 4.5%. Fruity and citric aroma, reminds me of raspberry. Clear brown colour. Small stable light brown head. The flavour is quite citric, turning fruity, again almost like raspberry. The finish is quite dry, but still OK sour.

On tap at Three Floyds. Poured dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma full of sour apple notes with a bit of tart cherry. Flavor had notes of sweet apples and tart cherries, a bit underwhelming.

Clear red brown with a lasting off-white head. Brown sugar and molasses dominate the aroma, with some cherry notes. Dry and slightly tart fruity flavour, with a hint of oak.

37,5cl bottle @ Delirium Cafe. Cloudy amber/reddish with a small creamy white head. Dusty cellar, earth, light vinegar and cherries. Mostly mouldy flavor with some caramel and pleasant tartness in between. Easy and simple.

From Delirium in Brussels, forgot to note if it was draft or bottle - Pours dark amber with a thin off-white head. The aroma is of cherries and wild yeast funk. It has a sweet taste with plenty of cherries and some funky flavors in the background. It’s medium bodied and has no apparent bitterness even in the finish, but avoids being cloying as some sourness kicks in at the right time.

Bottled 37,5 cl (BB 04/2010). Courtesy of bierkoning, thanks Edo! Deep ruby color, small beige head. Tart aroma of cherry and balsamico. Rich carbonation. Watery body. Light cherry, caramel, hints of Madeira and vinegar. Not much tartness and quite thin. Oud Bruin for beginners :)

Had an opportunity to sample this on tap at Brasserie Beck in Washington DC. Served in a wine glass, transparent, dark brown with a delicate, white head. Aroma is honey, dark fruits, bananas, sickly sweet. Flavor is tart and sweet, distinct yeastiness, dark fruits, some balsamic vinegar, a little musty. Medium finish, fruity.
