A quite unique beer, brewed with peat-smoked malted barley used in Ardmore malt whisky. It has a very distinctive flavour and a long lingering light smokiness in the aftertaste.
A Tarasgeir is the Gaelic name for a “Peat Iron”, which is used for cutting Peat.
Hops: Challenger
Malts: Maris Otter, Medium Crystal, Peat Smoked Malt, Torrified Wheat

Bottle from Tomlinsons beer shop, Inverness. It pours clear amber, with a small white head. The nose is sweet malt, plastercine, light smoke, wood and leather. The taste is straw, citrus fruit, only faintly smokey, leather, metal, light burnt notes, peat and earth, with a dry finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Dissappointing.

50cl bottle. Pours amber with a nicely proportioned head. The nose is much like a normal bitter, quite biscuity with some bitterness. There’s a hint of the smoke but probably only getting it because I’m looking for it. The taste is again biscuity with some toffee and the smoke finally does arrive on the finish. The palate is medium bodied with a medium thick texture and a dry smokey finish. Overall, interesting but doesn’t live up to the billing on the bottle.
