Porters were invented as a fortifying drink for the rough-and-tumble working class of London’s bustling markets. It was brewed for good folks with calluses on their hands, doing work that needed to be done. We salute those working-class heroes with our classic Porter, brewed in the hop-forward American style and featuring a depth of malt flavor and complexity with roasted notes of black coffee and cocoa.

Can from Sierra Nevada UK Webshoppe. It pours clear darkest brown with a thick, fluffy khaki head. The aroma is dark roasted malt, cacao nibs, chocolate cake, coffee grounds, touch of pipe tobacco and malt loaf. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet character, charred pine, dark chocolate, gateaux, coffee grounds, toasted peppery spice, malt loaf and a tickle of alcohol with drying, bitter roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Rounded and flavourful. Solid US-style porter.

Bottle. Brown color with a loose foam. Good aroma of dark and roasted malts, flavored with hop. Taste is quite light and dry, a little burnt and coffee, mild sourness, some hop bitterness.

Tight off white left a creamy top on a dark brown body. Smoked, woody & pine aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a foamy cloying back. Malt, smoked, burnt & caramel tastes with a bitter lightly hopped finish. Well brewed Porter.

Friday 19th Feb 2021; Family Beer Festival, three of us sharing a random selection of cans and bottles in my home bar. 355ml bottle; packaged 9th Oct 2020. I was really looking forward to this and had saved it until last. Sadly I found it wanting, looked fine, the aroma and taste as expected (dark brown, beige head, malty in nature); but the body was thin and 'watery'. I've loved their hoppy beers, but this was a surprising let down for me.

Bottle at home, 18th February 2021. Supposed to be in San Diego, but sat home, watching a virtual sales kick off with a Californian beer. Pours a thin looking dark brown liquid. Aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate. Taste is dark and roasted malts, bitter cocoa, thin mouth feel, it’s smooth and pretty pleasant. Nice classic porter with hops.
