Porters were invented as a fortifying drink for the rough-and-tumble working class of London’s bustling markets. It was brewed for good folks with calluses on their hands, doing work that needed to be done. We salute those working-class heroes with our classic Porter, brewed in the hop-forward American style and featuring a depth of malt flavor and complexity with roasted notes of black coffee and cocoa.

Smell - weak, maybe malt. Foam - thin, soft, roast, acidic tones, some cofee tones. Head generally is small, brown-white coffee foam color. Sticks. Appearance - brewer bottle cap and possible beer lines as well. Clear, very dark ruby color. From - snifter Taste - malt, roast, faint coffee. Light, but nothing special.

Bottle at home – best before 2015 !! Roasted malts on the nose. Pours a dark brownish red with a generous cream head. In the mouth has an initial creamy fruit sensation, followed quickly by bitter chocolate and coffe, before the fruit reasserts itself. Finish is fruity as well. None the worse for wear for its long storage !

Pours to a coca cola ruby red / black with frothy head. Sweet malts on the nose, with burnt toast at the end. Nice dark malty bite in the mouth, fair sweetness, burnt toast, sweet coffee, touch of dark chocolate. Nice lingering malty liquorice finish. Good balance of bitter and sweet. Solid.

Chocolate and licorice in the aroma. Hint of red berries. Thin. Roasted flavor with licorice and chocolate. Red berries. Dark chocolate aftertaste. Too thin to be really good, still a tasty porter.

Pours very dark brown, topped with a sizeable beige head, pretty lasting. Gentler malty nose with roastiness and some milder nuts that get more pronounced later on. Medium sweetness, chocolate and nutty with milder roastiness, some bitterness. Medium body. Nice and simply drinkable porter.
