Porters were invented as a fortifying drink for the rough-and-tumble working class of London’s bustling markets. It was brewed for good folks with calluses on their hands, doing work that needed to be done. We salute those working-class heroes with our classic Porter, brewed in the hop-forward American style and featuring a depth of malt flavor and complexity with roasted notes of black coffee and cocoa.

Bottle, 0.355l. Black pour, one finger soapy beige head. Low retention, some lacing on the glass. Roasted malts on the nose, charred, some wood notes. Subtle chocolate in the background, hints of vanilla. Thin body, medium to high carbonation. Light texture, prickly mouthfeel. Charred bittersweet taste. Aroma of caramel, roasted malts, cocoa. Notes of vanilla and forest fruits. Bready, cake-like aftertaste. Charred. Slightly sticky. Medium lasting finish, dry with a slight burn on the tongue. Overall, pretty good porter that's lacking in body a bit. Quality brew but nothing spectacular - textbook porter.

0.33 l bottle shared with Marko and Anna God. Dark brown, red tint, medium to large tan head. Malty, toffee, caramel, light roasty, ash. Very nice dry roasty profile, some malty sweetness. Light metallic note. Light alcohol. Rough, potent. Very dry finish.

Bottle pour into shaker pint glass. Appearance is clear, dark brown (like a cola/root beer) with nice sparkle, finger-width beige head and poor retention. Aroma is weak bread, caramel. Taste is subtle toffee, pleasant bittersweet roasted malt, vague chocolate. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with foamy texture, soft-to-average carbonation with finish as taste. Overall, the aroma and flavor are good but are not bold.

Poured from 12oz bottle an extremely dark brown bordering on black with a huge tannish head of foam that grew after pouring. The foam finally settles down but remains in the glass as a solid layer with lacing.
The smell has a lot of roastiness to it with a good nose of chocolate.
The taste fits the smell to a T. Loads of semi-sweet chocolate hits my palate with a nice roasted malt flavour hanging around in the background and that leads to a bit of bitterness in the finish. That's one tasty Porter and it's so drinkable.
Bottom line: Great sample of the style that no beer lover should miss trying!

*Bottle from Schneiders Getränke, Köln. Fantastic deep roasted chocolate malt. Coffee, not too bitter, not too sweetish. Round and intense with lots of chocolate and roast. Vanilla hints, nice bittered, extreme round and great!
