Elgood’s Coolship Sour Ale. Brewed using traditional methods & original brewing equipment. Spontaneous fermentation is initiated on our unique double coolships. A long period of fermentation and maturation in special tanks enables naturally occurring wild yeasts, combined with oak, to create its sharp fruity flavour. A true sour English Ale.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a clear dark amber, small off-white head Aroma of malts and sour funky fruit including apples and citrus. Taste of moderately sweet and sour fruits, yeast, caramel. Medium bodied. Quite a malty sour beer but it works, there is a nice balance to this.

Minimal off white collar stayed on a hazy vinegar coloured, slightly effervescent body. Tangy, sour, bitter & vinous aroma. Medium bodied, very sharp on the palate with minimal carbonation & an extremely dry clean finish. Bitter sour fruit, dry white wine, peach & cherry. A bit of an endurance test at first but getting down the glass it really got easier & tastier!

50cl bottle courtesy of and shared with 77ships.

500 ml. bottle sampled @ “Wish you were Adam Chandler” tasting. BBF 04/2018. I aged this one at home for over 12 months in hopes of getting more complexity & success I say, insanely better than the other 2 Coolship beers that I tried from Elgoods, I didn’t try this one fresh. Pours orange with no head, little sign of carbonation. Taste is puckering sour orange peel & indeed lambiek, more malts than usual, orange peel, burned sugar & herbal. Taste is puckering & big barnyard frunk reminiscent of lambiek, herbal notes, burned herbs & burned sugar finish, puckering flat, sour apple, wonderful barnyard. Thicker flat body. Akin to a rich & very successful flat lambiek, wonderful beer. Big success.
