33cl bottle from Melgers, shared with Kermis. Decent creamy white head. No funky aroma. Hazy golden pour. Slight sourness. Not very good for the style.

The classic Belgian family brewers are gradually realising that they have to venture into the craft beer revolution, and this is De Koninck’s attempt, under Moortgat. Basically De Koninck Blond refermented with Brett, with a lacing, off-white, moussy head and light hazy golden blonde colour. Pretty weak aroma of pink grapefruit, wet leather, minerals, unripe plum, grass, hint of caramel, green apple, jute and white pepper. Crisp fruity taste but a bit subdued, light on the tongue with medium carbo, smooth, apple peel and peach accents, grainy, bit sourish but very softly so, leathery Brett touch in the finish but gentle, dryish finish, bit yeasty with some grassy hop bitterishness. Rather bland and thin for this kind of beer, but I assume it gets better with age, seen the slow but profound effect the Brett may have on it. Probably worthwile to cellar for a year or so, but underachieving in its youth.

At gollem antwerp. Pours clear blonde . Small white head. Smell is mild funk, some grains. Taste is bit bitter , some grains with a very light touch of funk. Watery. Not so sour. not bad , but too weak to me

330 ml. bottle @ ’t Antwaerps Bierhuyske. BBF 03/2018. Hazy golden, collapsing big white bubble head. Nose is huge on laboratory brett, huge & rather artificial, big plastic smell with big yeast & white bread sweetness. Taste carries same huge laboratory brett which takes on a rather plastic quality, faint mineral quality, white pepper & more plastic, faint plaster & big yeast, white bread sweetness, plastic quality totally start dominating the profile after a while, plastic lemon,… Tad higher carb, plastic really coats your mouth & lingers on. Bottle description & name both use the term “wild” which isn’t applicably in my opinion for something that tastes this laboratory heavy as far as the brett is concerned as this. Decent & simple but the plastic quality dominates a bit too much. Preferably to their flagship beer.
