We describe it as “Crisp and clean, pure and natural” – everything you want in a lager. Light and effervescent, without that nasty chemical tang, Chilkoot Lager goes down pretty smooth and easy. As one of our best selling beers, Chilkoot lives up to what we hoped it would be – a perfect alternative to mainstream beers and the best place to start trying craft beer.

Their attempt to steal market share from Kokanee, apparently. Chill haze, dull pale colour. Slightly appley and grainy. Low bitterness, grainy with sort of a thick malt body. The malts, however are not particularly well-developed.

Rather typical lager with okay hints of malt in the flavour profile. Smooth and not cloying, looks okay. Nothing too exciting but a reliable lager and rather nice, easily drinkable in large quantities.

Can, courtesy of SHIG – thanks! Dirty straw colored pour with a moderate haze and small white head which dissipates rather quickly. Smells rather sweet; lager malt, grass, corn syrup. The taste is… well… unexpected. A blend of sweet lager and grapes with a fizzy crispness resembles a chardonnay spritzer. It fades away into a sweet finish that sort lingers with the grape/chardonnay taste. Odd. Unfortunately I didn’t find this to be very refreshing, but for reasons I cannot explain that didn’t stop me from polishing off the can.
