Oude lambiek is added right before bottling, which makes this beer different from the "Scarenbecca Kriek".

375mL bottle at the International Geuze & Kriek festival. Pours murky pink with a pink head. Tons of red wine vinegar here, a bit of funk on the palate. Way too acidic for me.

Bone dry. Heavy sour with lovely cherries, barnyard, horse blanket, lemon etc. Nice.

Djupt rödfärgad vätska i stort sätt utan skumlock. Rejäla aromer av körsbär. Syrlig och rejält emaljskrapande smak.

(Bottle) Dark red colour with foamy pink head. Fruity nose with cherries, strawberries, blood orange, almonds, stable and barnyard. Fruity, tart taste with notes of cherries, blood orange, barnyard, stable, wood, vinegar and a generous citric acidity in a dry finish. Medium body, dry. Low bitterness. Really fresh and tasty, with a generous cherry character and a solid tartness. Great beer.

Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were wood, cherries, vanilla, tartness, cinnamon, malts, sourness, and bitterness. Aftertaste had tartness, wood sourness and bitterness. A delicious and balanced tart brew.

bottle labelled Hanssens Artisanal sinds 1896 Schararbeekse Kriek corked and caged 37.5cl bottle 6.5% dark red, not clear red, pink head. aroma is belgian sour lambic and cherries. Super clean belgian lambic aroma and then fruity natural cherries. This is an exceptionally good aroma, perhaps some faint phenolic notes otherwise just perfect. quite clean and simple. flavor is crazy sour, damped by a lot of cherry flavor. Not sweet, sour beer, sour cherries, You def. need to be into sour beer before being able to appreciate this one, but wow, it's good. I think we need to invent a new word to describe the level of sourness of this beer.

Bottle 37.5cl, from 2018. Pours a dark ruby red, no head. Aroma is very intense sour cherries, refreshing and fruity, light spices, vinous, deep with some funk and some umami. Light oak and vanilla. Light to medium body. Flavour is very tart and sour, a real punch of acidity. But underneath is a beautifully complex sour cherry character, rich if not sweet, with a bite and some funk, umami, oak. Amazing stuff.

75cl bottle, vintage December 2016, 6% alcohol. Beautiful ruby color, with basically no head. Aroma of sour cherries, still quite clear after more than 4 years. Lactic acid. Taste of sour cherries, amazing, wood, vinous. Definitely acid, wonderful kriek. Hanssens once again was great.
