George Anson, also known as The Admiral, you can almost hear his footsteps getting louder and louder as he approaches the White Swan or in those days, was referred to as ‘The Mucky Duck’ as he rounds up his men who, once they have sobered up are responsible for sailing him and his Royal ship round the world – it took four years!Well thank goodness you won’t have to wait 4 years for your next pint of Stout.

Cask: Poured a black with a tan head. Aroma is light roast a bit chalky. Taste is roasted malts, hint of chocolate, some chalkiness and bitter.

9/10/2020. Cask at the Brewhouse & Kitchen, Portsmouth. Pours dark ruby brown with a small frothy beige head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, fruit and nut. Moderate sweetness and medium roasted bitterness with a slight tart edge. Moderate body, watery texture, quite fizzy.

Cask at Brewhouse & Kitchen - Portsmouth during the Isle of Wight Jolly. Pours clear, dark brown with a creamy, light tan head. The nose holds good roast, toasted grains and light cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavor with dark malts, grainy toast, light earth, chocolate and blackberry. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation; nicely conditioned. Moderate roast on the finish with some char and burnt earth. Very decent.

Cask at the brewery in Islington. Ruby red mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting cream head. Aroma is nutty choc, dark roast. Flavour is soft roast, berry toasty malts, palate is crisp, light semi sweet,. Lingering soft roast and choc.

Cask at the Brewhouse and Kitchen, IOW Jolly Day, 24/08/14. Light black/extremely dark mahogany brown with a moderate beige covering that thins to edgework and spotting. Nose is big on chocoalte, liqourice, light spice, dark fruit rinds, dark malt, fruit cake. Taste comprises roast malt, liqourice, brown bread, chocolate, dark maltings. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying roasted close. Solid porter, best of the bunch from this brewpub for me!

Cask - Dark roast and molasses with some burnt sugars. Jet black with a decent beige head. Dark roast and light dark fruit. Some light sourness and finishes light bitterness. Nice.

Cask at The brewpub. It pours deep deep ruby-brown with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, liquorice, roasty and permanent marker pen . The taste is rich, roasty, liquorice, earth, mild acidity, charred wood and marker pen with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Solid.
