Pulling Nails is an ongoing experiment in the art of blending to create sour and wild ales of extraordinary depth, complexity and balance. Blend #2 is the union of some of our favorite spontaneous, wild and sour blond beers that were fermented in and aged in wine barrels for three months to two and a half years.

Bottle. Pours clear deep golden, medium fizzy white head, dissipates quickly leaving no residual or lacing. Aroma is stonefruit, Brett, oak, varnish, lemon. Flavor is medium plus tart, medium funk, nice stonefruit but an annoying varnish note as well. Medium body.

Bottle in Winter Park with jcnielsen. Thanks Bo SHN! Pours a hazy golden orange appearance with a white head. The aroma shows a hint of funk and fruit but then is overpowered by tons of nail polish / acetone. Tart, funky fruity flavor in the background but it’s all chemicals, acetone, harsh acetic acid otherwise. I love Side Project but this should be recalled.

Great clarity, a faint golden color. great cap pop but no gushing, very little head that faded fast. The aroma is actually really great. Lots of white wine, grapes, kiwi, peaches, brett. Really nice mouthfeel. This is an intense sour beer. Tastes like a mixture of honeydew melon, kiwi and lime juice all in one. There’s a lot to say but this might be too sour

Bottle shared. Pours cloudy orange blonde with a minimal off white head. Aroma of citrus, vinous aspects, pineapple, light funk, tart apricot, light tart fruits. Flavour is moderate to heavy sour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Decent, but a little too acidic and lactic.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Gushed a bit. No head. Cloudy blond pour. Funky aroma. Sour aftertaste. Good for the style but not my cup of tea.

Bottle during RBWG hotel lobby tasting night 1, 19/02/15 thanks to whomever supplied this number. Hazed yellow with a decent off white covering. Nose is pissy citrics, cactus, spice, varnish, rotting melon. Taste comprises soured citric flesh, pissy notes, lemon rind, wood must, green apple. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, rising acidity in the close. Ok sour, perhaps a bit overcooked.

Ticked at night one of the rbwg2015 hotel lobby bottle share extravaganza. 750ml pours with hazy gold body that supports a near white head. The aroma offers up tartness that’s pineapple, lemon and funky lime with a touch of earthy basement in the background. The taste delivers big bold tart and acidic edged soured citrus notes. In the background lurks some earthy notes and vinegar.

Pours unclear blonde . No head . Smell is spicy sourness . Taste is sharp and intense sour , with a grainy funk backbone . Very dry . Really intense american sour , I like it , but Its hard to look at as a balanced beer . Overkill of lactobacillus . Nevertheless, yes , I like it . Perhaps a bit too extreme to the sour side though .
