Cask at the Philharmonic, Liverpool. Copper and clear with a thin loose beige head. Very muted aroma of malt, raisins, biscuit. Deep fruity bitter initial taste with sweetness taking over quite quickly. Medium body. Abrupt finish. A beer that delivers well enough but doesn’t inspire. I can’t imagine wanting another one.

Cask at the Feathers, 25/07/14. Lightly hazed brown, beige head. Nose is a little musty, orchard wood, apple skin, rather dull. Taste comprises light caramel, musty, green apple, orange marmalade, bready malt pangs. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Classic boring brown bitter!

On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - dark amber to chestnut. Nice fluffy head. Nose - sweet malt with a fresh note that is somewhere between citrus and orchard. Taste - more apples plus sweet malt and just a touch of citrus again. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long elegant finish. Overall - really enjoyed this. Beer of the day.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol, November 2012. Copper coloured with a decent, off-white head. Heavy cereal malts, tangerine fruit sweetness and a moderately bitter finish. Didn’t do much for me.

[Gravity cask at Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Amber, slight white head. Sweet lots of caramel, a little wisp of citrus, just enough bitterness to balance. OK, but not great.
