Based on our most award-winning beer, Denver Pale Ale, this copper-hued treat is a celebration of everything Great Divide does best. Plenty of malty sweetness provides a backdrop for earthy, floral English and American hops, while French and American oak round off the edges and provide a touch of vanilla. 17th Anniversary Edition – 75 cl. bottle @ Delrium Hoppy Loft – shared – Curious about this one, not a big fan of IIPA’s or IPA’s but it is not like I hate them, I am a big fan of their Yeti, so… - Went on this one after a brief discussion about which bottle we were going to share – Looks like a caramel with a white head – Smell is incredible, sweet caramel goodness, touch of frangipane, sweet wood, fruits, lots of caramel malt – Taste does feature many of those elements delicious caramel, very strong malt, lots of caramel malt, beating even out the hops, vanilla, sweet wood, sugar, fruits, wonderfully sticky, touch of frangipane but underneath that you get a more or less regular IPA going on with some grapefruit hops & slight floral, great stuff, smell is still a bit better than the smell, oh boy if this would have tasted like it smelled but this one was getting close, ironically the IIPA slightly blocked some of the flavours / Body is wanderfully sticky & sweet / Great stuff, love it, might have been even more of the top but this was great already / That is one hell of a barrel aging

Copper colour, tan head. Malty hoppy aroma, quite alcoholic. Fruity citrus, apricot, some caramel and oak. Bitter malty flavour, some sweetness, honey, fruits. Quite sticky, hoppy finish.

Bottle @ Joes Tasting shared with Joes and Dutchdrebus. Almost clear copper color, decent sized shite head. Smell piney hops, resin, sweet. Taste sweet, a lot of pine, hops, bitter and yeast. Sticky texture. Disappointment. Expected way better. Carbo and body medium. But the hops have turned from sharp and fresh to sweet and round.

Bottled on Mar 30, 2011 ... 17th Anniversary.
Clear amber color, small steady beige head. Sweetish, ryeish, piney resiny aroma. Medium to full-bodied.Flavor has lots of resin, wood, oak, rye bread and vanilla notes. Straightforward, very strong and sweet.

22 ounce bottle into tulip, bottled March 29th 2011. Pours clear red orange color with a 1.5 finger off white head with great retention that reduces to a fairly thick lacing cap. Some decent lacing on the glass as well. Aromas of orange, grapefruit, caramel, oak, and a bit of vanilla. Nice aromas here with good strength. Taste of huge oak, with caramel, grapefruit, pine, and a bit of orange and vanilla. Nice strong bitterness on the finish that lingers with pine, oak, and citrus flavors. Decent balance of flavors, and nice balance of bitterness and sweetness. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied, almost syrupy mouthfeel. Alcohol is very well hidden for 10%, none in the taste and very little warming on the finish. Overall a very nice Double IPA, but it is a little over the top on the oak flavor.
