Bottle. 2011 vintage, enjoyed in 2015. Almost clear, deep brown/ruby liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of raw sugar, raisins, dried fruit, toffee, light booze, port wine and caramel. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, toffee, bread, raisins and light alcohol. Full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Nice but maybe a bit old.

Pours dark amber with a yellowish thick head. Intense aromas of figtree leaf, dandelion, caramel and honey. Taste is quite sweet, full-bodied and creamy. Long, very bitter finish.

Bottle, bb 7/12 (_really_ breaking the "try a fresh one first" rule with this one). 13C. Dark brown, no head. Aroma of PX sherry, chocolate, dried fruit, dark bread. Almost flat. Presumably has thinned out a little, certainly well short of sticky. Bittersweet with dark fruits and sherry, bitterness creeping up towards the end. A little stemmy there too. No overt alcohol. Mellow, lovely.

Oct. ’14. A 0.75 l bottle, one of the several from Svijet Piva store, Zagreb shared that evening. This one poured lightly hazy copper-amber body with a small head. Of course, malty aroma, mostly toasted like caramel, toffee, also orange (both malt and hop), other fruits and alcohol. Flavor was accordingly sweet and malty, showed up to be quite complex, too. Caramel, all the other toasted malt and fruit, especially on the sweeter side, then came the secondary flavors like wood or tobacco. Bitter component was much less pronounced, only a bit of herbal bitterness towards the end, but alcohol played its role here, too. Medium bodied, warming and quite sweet finish. It’s an elegant and complex barley wine, but definitely not among the tastiest ones, nor it did knock me down. Its price surely did though.

Over a year old bottle. A beautiful reddish colour, a head is medium and beige. The aroma is rich, sweet berries and some fruits. Strawberries and raspberries, some caramell, pleasant. Taste is rich and sweet, berries, some wood. Some bitterness that is piney and herbal, but the taste is still quite sweet. Full bodied, low carbonation. Strongly sweet dessert, but the sweetness is pleasant. Good beer.
