On tap at Animal. Dark amber coloir with a nice off-white head, with a good presence, lasting and lacing. Aroma is caramelish, malty and sweet. Flavor is sweet with a good duration but not cloying, bready, alcoholic. The aftertaste is impreganted by sweet and alcoholic traces with a good duration. Carbonation is low to medium. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.

Pours coppery brown with a small head.Loads of malt shows through in the aroma, with overt caramel, dried figs, orange marmalade, and light port notes. Also some soft spicy and herbal notes.Flavours are just as malty, with big rich syrupy, bready malt along with some dried fruit. Later some light grapefruit notes follow through along with accompanying bitterness.Carbonation is perfectly soft, body seems overtly syrupy though.

37,5 cl bottle @ Gastropub Nordic. Rated on 12.11.2010
Aroma has ripe fruits, raisins and alcohol. Flavour is rather strong on stinging alcohol. Also some raisins, sweet malt, caramel and toffee. The alcohol ruins the show here.

Draught @ The Mikkeller Bar. Pours clear dark red (amber-like) with a very small off-white head that doesn’t leave any trace while quickly dissipating. Smell is malty sweet with caramel, orange peal, plums, dried sweet tropical fruits like papaya and pineapple, brown sugar and a large dose of alcohol. Taste is very sweet and slightly bitter with lots of caramel, some bread, orange peal, papaya, dried pineapple, apples, plums, pine, golden syrups and alcohol. Mouthfeel is sticky sweet, intense and full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with caramel and citrus.

Sample on Day 2 of the Aces & Ales Strong Beer Festival on 08/13/2011. This beer is a murky reddish-brown color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Rings of lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and hops. Rich body with a fruity character and notes of caramel malt, molasses, hops and warming alcohol. The finish is sweet malt and toffee with a residual hoppy bitterness left behind. Pretty good beer all around.

Bottle at Asahiya. Huge citrus fruit, caramel, alcohol nose. Sour, butterscotch, a touch of vinegar. Dark brown and flat. Sweet, strong, smooth and silky. Complexity is very different from the nose; bitter and port-like. The palate is wonderfully soft and cloud-like. Really interesting body. Flavor is good but too sweet.
