Appearance: Deep hazy brownish color with a small tan head.
Aroma: Malty and fruity.
Palate: Medium + body. Sweet and a moderate bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Dominating fruity, some spices and dark malty. Well hidden alcohol.
Overall impression: Powerful evening sipper. Maybee a little bit to sweet for me.
Personal stats: Bottle from a trade with SaintMatty

From a 33 cl bottle shared at home. Pours a clear, deep amber with a thick bubbly off white head that slowly recedes leaving plenty of lacing. Caramel aroma with some hops lingering in there as well. Flavors of toffee, caramel, dark fruits but with a distinct hop character. Somewhat bitter finish.

375 ml. corked bottle, tapped in 2010, poured in to a snifter. My Mikkeller rating #50! Dark brown colour with lighter hues. Small, light tan head. Sweet aroma with lots of caramel malts, dark, dried fruits, candy sugar, a fruity and yeasty note. Hints of alcohol. Hops have faded a bit, still shows as citrus and pines hops. Taste is sweet. Full body, oily texture, flat carbonation. Clearly a strong, "fat" beer. Long lasting bitter finish, where the alcohol shows. Very good BW however, the hops have faded somewhat now, would probably have been at its peak last year or a few years ago. Still a great beer!

Shared bottle at home, from Beers of Europe. Big almond and alcohol nose, some peach and candi sugar. Looks good in the glass, dark copper and nice white lacing. As it warms up, some alcohol burn and more peach notes in the palate. Sweet, but not too sweet. Orange pith in the long finish.

375ml bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy deep dark red brown color, no head at all. Smell malts, a slight sourness, alcohol. Taste malts, alcohol, some fruityness but it’s mainly alcohol. Less outspoken than I had expected.

Bottle @ home thx to benzai. Hazy red to brown colour with no head. Smells alcohol, wood, nuts, very sweet, caramel. Tastes red fruits, alcohol, hazelnut, wood. Rich and deep taste, long lasting aftertaste. Amazingly silky body with minimal carbo.

Fra fat på Cardinaltreff des-12: tørkede frukter i aromaen. Godt balansert og fruktig smak. en god barley wine, men ikke helt i øverste liga. 10%. Må prøve en flaskeversjon.
