Handpull cask at the Cavens Arms, Dumfries. Mid-gold with a decent white head. Soft citrus aroma, very one-dimensional. I really loved the taste: savoury and herbal, with a note of astringency and the very hint of sweetness around the edges. Dry finish. Very impressive: a simple recipe which exhibits the brewers’ originality and prowess.

Cask at the Grill, alongside a wee dram. It pours golden amber with a medium white head. The nose is light toast, creamy, dough, pear drops, icing sugar and catdboard. The taste is floral, citrus peel, light dough, toast and grain with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth and quaffable. Pretty alright.

Cask, half at Guildford Arms. Remaining white head to a copper coloured body. Floral hops on the nose as well as pale malts. Citrus flavours, dusty hops and fragile malty sweetness. Smooth bitter ending. Medium to thin bodied. Easy going, food friendly with the Goats cheese pie (Edinburgh 08.08.2013).

From cask at Tiles. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, citrusy and crisp hoppy. Light cornish. Bitter, grassy and grapefruity into the finish. Toasted malty and light breadish finish.

Cask @ Kimberley Inn, Findhorn Light golden, clear, thin white head.
Aroma of citrus, bit of grape, bit floral with a touch a herb.
Taste - light citrus...bit peppery..bit of grain...light malts.
Finish is a bit dry, bit of citrus, bit peppery with slight herbal note.
Overall - OK golden ale. Bit different from usual in the style but still rather ordinary.

[Cask at Hope Tap (JDW), Reading] Amber-gold with a moderate white head and a slight to moderate sparkle. Grapefruit at first before caramel & biscuit malt come through, At first I thought the bitterness was a bit heavy-handed and masked rather than balanced the underlying sweetness. However, more grapefruit in the finish convinced me it worked, and by the end I was rather enjoying it.
