Cask at Victoria station, Wetherspoons, London. A golden coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, citrus fruit aroma. Tastes of citrus fruit, slight bitterness, hoppy, malty. Decent session ale but I don’t consider this to be a Christmas beer!

16th December 2010. Spoons - Hamilton Hall. Clear gold beer, thin white head. Light dry palate, a little soft. Lovely fresh orange with traces of grapefruit and citrus, all seamlessly joined up in to a fruity treat. Zingy! Nice even malt base. Finishes dry with lemon sherbet, orange sherbet and creamy malt. Thoroughly enjoyable beer which some more conservative Camra members I was drinking with found too hoppy!

Half, hand pull cask conditioned ale at Alexander Graham Bell (JDW). Golden-amber coloured body. Faint lacing from an airy, white head. Inviting smell of dried fruits. Mix of apricot, peaches, ripe fruits and a touch of berries in the flavour character. Rounded bittersweet end. Medium bodied.Tasty, but not exactly the taste of Christmas (Edinburgh, 30.11.2010).

Cask at the Claude du Vall (JDW), Camberley. Golden amber with loose off-white head that laces the glass nicely; grapefruit aroma; crisp grapefruit flavour with a medium grainy body; luscous bitterness to finish. A great golden ale, but not particularly Christmassy.

Cask handpull John Buckler Spoons. Ok quite drunk with this rate. Clear pale gold lasting white head. Beautiful sherbert hop aroma. Could do with a bit more support from the malts in the mouth. Good hop on finish. Could get messy on yhis drinkable 5% abv hoppy beer.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 23/11/10. Golden coloured with a slight white head. Decent lemon and grapefruit hops, with a touch of creamy malts and dry finish. Very good.
