Brought to life using a lager yeast strain, this beer is a sensory pounder. Ignoring the idea of a traditional lager balance, Guest Lager hops the line and intentionally scales the flavors tied to the ale spectrum. This 8% ABV style bender wrangles an impressive canon of flavor into one place. Did we mention hops? This particular lager hosts enough Nelson Sauvin & Falconer’s Flight to soothe any weary traveler.

Can from Mikkeller Webshop. Clear, golden body, with a medium, creamy, white head, that leaves rings of lacing. Great, fresh, fruity aroma of citrus, tangerine, lemongrass, passion fruit, lychee, grass, candy. Taste is also very fruity, with about the same aromas. Mouthfeel is medium, oily, carbonation is moderate and it finishes bitter, fruity, also sweet and a bit malty and pretty alcohol warming. Tasty stuff! If I didn’t know it, I propably wouldn’t be sure if this is a lager or an ale, as this is fruity and smooth like an American Pale Ale. Quaffable and refreshing, despite the high ABV and really pushing the envelope regarding the Lager style!

Taster at the tap room. Jeez, about all I wrote down on this was "heavy catbox smell." I recall then explaining to my companions that I mean that as a good thing, but usually associate it with Amarillos. Clearly some of the newer hop varieties here can dig in that impression just as well, too. Should probably have had a full glass, but this was a pub/brewpub crawl, and I was pacing myself admirably.

Draught at the brewery, 4/17/14
Chill-hazed deep golden/copper body is topped by plentiful white head showing strong retention.
Hugely hoppy nose is full of strong peachy-lemon fruitiness and a fair amount of acidity. Pine emerges quickly and alongside the grapefruit and heavy leaf-like astringency, it quickly becomes clear this is going to be very aggressive. Bready malts produce a sourdough-like note in conjunction with all of this hop resin, while there is a touch of alcohol warmth on the finish and a bit of fusel character.
Unbelievably acidic in the mouth. Hop resin, lemon concentrate, pine sap, etc....Very well-attenuated, too much so, as there’s not nearly enough malt to balance. It’s not even the extreme amount of hops used, rather just the poorly executed boiling schedule for them. Way too much bitterness and borderline sour/aspirin-like. Damn. Ok, you know how to boil a shit ton of hops and make an unbalanced beer. Good work.

From a 0.5l can @ Borefts 2013. A blurry really bright golden one with a small bubbly bright white head. Smells of nice gentle hops that combined with a light citrus and mineral water touch makes a really good nose. Is there even a hint of peach here? The can this comes from has been standing in the sun for some time, but it does not matter. It still taste pretty darn good this. Really fruity and tasty. Well hopped and fruity with apricots and those small long peaches. Don't know what they are called. Impressive stuff. 27.09.2013

27.09.2013, 0,5l can sampled @ Borefts:
Small creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly fruity, hop pellets, light malts, leafs, citrus peel, grass. Taste is slightly sweet grassy, light malts, hops, sugar, hay, leafs, citrus peel, grass. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Not bad, but not what I’d call a lager either...?

Can. A hazy yellow beer with a lazing white head. The aroma has notes of hay and lemons. The flavor is sweet with notes of hay, lemons, and alcohol, leading to a very bitter finish. Raw.
