Hazy orange color, good creamy off-white head. Lemony, even hand soapy aroma. Medium-bodied. Bubblegummy, lemony. Maybe hints of coriander. Quite alcoholic tripel. Long lingering spicey bitterness.

Cask gravity at the Butcher’s Arms, Herne. Hazy copper colour, thin off white head. Definite Belgian yeast. That’s amazing. Hops are so good. It’s like an Eglish DIPA made with a Belgian yeast. Some rose petal. Hops really bite in on the finsih ripping at the tongue. But not stupidly aggressive. The right side of huge hops. Bit of ripe mased banana and hops on aroma, touch of earthiness in mouth. Big hop on finsih. Still can’t taste the alcohol. One of the most surprising jaw dropping UK beers I’ve had.

Cask på Wenlock Arms, Hoxton 29 Sep 10. Lys brun. Uklar. Litt luftig skum. Søt, krydret aroma. Smaken er grapefrukt. Tørr, bitter, uvariert. Tungdrikkelig. Vårt siste øl på Wenlock Arms? Ting som tyder på det. Litt trist.

Low, frothy head to a near-clear, golden brown. Spotty lacing. Inviting aroma of fruity hops. Dry hopped taste sustained by toffee notes. Solid bittersweet ending lingering all the way back to Arriva. Nice but rather heavy to drink. Half, cask ale in perfect condition at Wenlock Arms, London 29 Sep 10.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 13/10/10. Deep yet hazy gold in colour with a slight white head. Sweet, yeasty aroma with some caramel, apricots and citrus hops. Flavour had plenty of sweetness, Belgian yeast character and grains, with a hoppy dry finish accompanied by some alcohol warmth. Very good.

Cask at CPK, London. Pours hazy gold with a modest, white head. Boozy aroma with lots of sugar. Sweet flavor with more booze, only faint hints of bubble gum and yeast. Medium bodied with average carbonation and warmth. Finishes sweet, with light fruits and bitterness. Decent.

(Cask at Angleterre, Helsinki) I was a bit suspicious about this. An abbey triple brewed in England and served as a cask ale is nothing common. When the beer poured it lookd a bit like a tripel would. Also its aroma was quite matching: there was honey, fruitiness, caramell and hops. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation as expected. The taste was unfotrunately disappointing. All the fruity and honeyish components were quickly drowned by dominating bitterness that lasted long. So, the beer was an interesting experiment and I hope to have a chance to taste more experiment from Dark Start but I really would like them to be more balanced.

Cask at cask pub and kitchen, Pimlico, London. A hazy orange/gold coloured pour with a medium white head. Hoppy, citrus fruit aroma. Tastes hoppy, citrus fruit, quite bitter. This is a big beer indeed but it is very different to a Belgian Triple.

4th September 2010. Hand bottle courtesy of Harrisoni - cheers Ian! Hazy gold amber beer, tiny white head. Soft dry palate. Sweet floral toffee that is well balanced with some nice citrus orange hops. Very very drinkable and nice to see Dark Star flexing their brewing muscle!

On tap at the Rake. Hazy amber beer, residual white suddy head. A little bit of prickly carbonation. Sweet aromatic malt with a some sweet fruit salad sweet flavour. Then some aggressive hops lead to a dry and bitter finish. Marmalade bitterness. Some honey in there to. Unusual and tasted more interesting than the first time I had it.

Cask (Egham Beer Festival - Summer 2010) - Golden in colour. Spice, tea and grapefruit in the aroma. Bitter, fruity and ever so slightly sweet taste wih notes of grapefruit, spice and lemon.
