Bottle, 0.65l, shared with Hoppiness crew. Pours pitch black with thin creamy light brown head and nice lacing. Aroma of coffee, yeast and dark fruits. Taste starts with sweet light roasted malt and chocolate, following is sour yeasty and fruity, mouthfeel is spicy chilli, while finish is mild bitter. Medium body, creamy texture and soft carbonation in palate. Sweet and sour coffeish hybrid...

650ml bottle. Quasi black colour with small to average, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, tan head. Dark malty aroma, sweet-ish notes of molasses, treacle, coffee, some liquorice. Taste is dark malty, notes of treacle, malt lozenge, coffee, cautious hints of yeast spiciness. Not too much coffee man, but too much coffee for a Belgi-an.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice rich, single centimetre tall lighter brown head. Aroma of coffee (naturally), earth, malt, raisins, figs, nuts and a touch of chocolate. Medium-bodied; Strong coffee flavours with a lot of roasted malt and raisins as well, with some milk chocolate, prunes and even some grain noticeable. Aftertaste shows a good combination of malt and sugars with a dominance on bitter coffee flavours. Overall, a nice beer with a lot of flavours, mostly showing the coffee and chocolate notes, but the malt and sugars show nicely as well. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from The Proper Pour @ The Source in Denver, Colorado on 07-June-2014 for US$8,00 a few hours before leaving back for Portland to get some more from this series.

Bomber. Beermoth, Manchester. Clear, very dark, chestnut brown. Film of sticky, lasting, tan head. Milk chocolate. Praline. Milky coffee. Light, fruity saison character comes through toward the end. Drinks dry, fruity, and dark chocolate fruity sweet. Smooth, rich, and stupidly easy to drink. Feels nowhere near the ABV. Finishes silky sweet, and roast coffee dry. Perfect balance throughout. Lovely.

Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Black pour with a quickly dissipating tan head. Aromas of black treacle, coffee, licorice and chocolate. Flavours of crème caramel, licorice toffee, treacle and light coffee roast. Exceedingly smooth. Very nice indeed.

Bottle @ Rooie Dop, medium sample. Dark color, medium head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, bit brown cookie, slight spicy. Didnt realise it was an imperial saison, as the aroma is dominated by dark malts and a bit coffee. Coffee is not really strong, but quite subtle. Soft sweet taste, bit bitter from the malts. Quite easy drinker, which is dangerous for 8.2%.
