Cask at Charlies’s Bar, Copenhagen. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, bread, and a bit of coffee, leading to a bitter finish. The mouthfeel is smooth.

Sweet aroma with a little bit of treacle. It’s bittersweet and a bit sticky with a rich taste including some chocolate and a bit of smoke.

Cask at Willow Walk, W’Spoons, Victoria. Dark pour with virtually no head whatsoever. Roasty, slightly hoppy, dark fruit. Rather thin and uninspiring, I didn’t finish it.

Cask handpull at The County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. One of the beers of the festival for me. Lovely choc beer, good roasted aroma. Excellent mouth feel. Good smooth finish with bit of roasted dryness. Good.

Cask at the Standing ORder (JDW), Derby. Pitch black with thin tan head that laced the glass nicely; malty aroma with a hint of chocolate; velvety smooth in the mouth, with good chocolate malts, combining dry bitter chocolate with sweet malts; dry finish. A good strong mild.

Cask-conditioned at the Savoy, Swindon 29/10/09. Near black in colour with a slight tan head. Big roasty aroma of bitter chocolate and black coffee. Flavour had more of the same, with a very dry finish. Very good.
