Bottle shared thanks to jmgreenuk. Pours murky brown with a tan head. Aroma of grassy hops, ripe fruits, citrus, coffee coming out but not so strong. Flavor is moderate sweet an moderate to heavy bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation action. Not bad, but the ABV is too high and unnecessary for what you get out of the beer.

4 oz draft pour at ChurchKey. Dark brownish black with off-white head. Aromas of coffee, floral notes, vegetal notes. Tastes of coffee, bitter roast, dark fruit mostly raisiny notes. Medium body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation. One of my least favorite coffee IPAs, the raisiny notes were kind of strange for me.

330ml bottle. Murky brown colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Piney and resinous hoppy aroma, disguised grapefruit, coffee notes in the background. Taste is initially citrusy hoppy with hints of grapefruit and orange, underlying coffee notes gain weight and predominate the middle part together with some malty sweetness, more integrated but still slightly inharmonious mixture in the last third; matching bitter hop and bitter coffee notes in the finish. Slightly unbalanced, coffee isn’t really advantageous.

The first coffee IPA I’ve had that I actually didn’t mind. Coffee doesn’t kill the hops here, as there’s some light citrus in initial aroma and more in the finish. Light booze, with some good malt backbone. Light bitter finish. Dark amber pour. Tap at Churchkey.

Draught @ Haket. Pours tiny hazy amber with a creamy beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving some thick sticky lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is tiny sweet and malty with caramel, grapefruit rinds, espresso coffee, moist grass, pine needles, toffee and resinous wood. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with caramel, toffee, grapefruit rinds, pine needles, moist grass, dark roast coffee, alcohol and hints of unripe tropical fruits. Mouthfeel is round, tiny oily, tiny astringent and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with caramel, coffee, grapefruit rinds, grass, pine and orange zest. Ok...

Bottle from BottleDog London and drunk at home. Black beer thin beige head. Aroma of a very good IPA. Really fresh grapefruit and rather good. And then someone has put some coffee/chocolate malt in the aroma as well. Not sure why as the hop is really lovely on the aroma. In the mouth and the flavour it’s brilliant. I mean really brilliant. Not many brewers could pull this off. A coffee double IPA, I would expect to be a leap too far, yet this actually works. Even for a cynic like me. Never too extreme, never unbalanced. And yes some heat on the late finish, but it’s smooth, poised and I wouldn’t guess the strength on a blind tasting. Fresh hop and fruit aroma is quite outrageous. Some coffee on the finish. But like fresh grapefruit flavoured coffee. This beer is all wrong for something that would appeal to me, yet it is done so phenomenally well, I think it’s brilliant. I am quietly stunned. A beautiful double IPA with malty coffee. It’s utterly remarkable. Perfect finish to my aggressively dressed garlic and rosemary chicken leaf salad with onion bhaji croutons. Remarkable beer.
