Saluting our continued survival on this planet we decided to go all out with New Glarus ALT. The Brilliant bronze body was cultivated in a three hour kettle boil of Caramel malts and Raw Turbinado Sugar. Aged in Oak in open top fermentors followed by a second round of bottle conditioning.

A firm head of foam sweeps brisk hop notes of Syrian Golding and German Hallertau to your nose. A defiant anomaly tenacious and independent this is a flavor experience to relish.

12 ounce bottle from a friend. Thanks Jenny! Pours a copperish strawberry color with a medium head. Average head retention and lacing. Aroma is nuts, berries, some alcohol and bready notes. Taste is hugely toffee with those same sweet-tart berry like fruity notes. Medium bodied.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Nice complex-fruity aroma. Prickly-fruity start, notes of plum and peach, finish a bit dry and woody. Aroma very interesting with every gulp. Tastes good, but not really like an Alt.

Pours copper with gold edges and tan head. The aroma has a nice wood note followed by dark fruity esters and a touch of caramel. The taste starts with wood goodness that actually persists from front to back. Toward midway fruit of prunes, raisins and hints of ripe cherries mix together along with mild molasses and caramel notes.

courtesy of cigarcitybrew. Pours amber with tan head. Aroma of nice oak notes. Taste, caramel malts, with light fruits and wood - oak. Some spices and hops add for a light tingly finish. Easy to drink and yet another New Glarus hit.
