Brewed to the parameters of a classic Porter, Decadence 2007 has the intense aromas of dark malt and chocolate complimented by a lusciously smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is rich and malty, and balanced with just the right amount of English East Kent Goldings hops. 750mL bottle, split several ways, pours a dark brown with a reddish tint and a small beige / tan head. Aroma of dark fruits, some oxidation, and very slight molasses - zero roast character. Flavour is dominated by the dark dried fruits, particularly dates and raisins, maybe some berries, toffee, no roast, no chocolate or coffee - characterized almost exclusively by the dark fruits. No hint of oxidation either, unlike the nose. Very rich in dried fruits - dates and raisins especially. A little cloying in sweetness, but not overbearingly so. It's held up well over the years. Excellent.

Bottle from a trade with cbkschubert. Pours dark brown/black color with light brown head. Aromas of caramel and chocolate with a hint of roasted malts. Sweet molasses flavor with a ton of mlk chocolate and some roasted malts. Medium body with soft carbonation. Another awesome beer from Alesmith. Thanks Craig.

750 ml. Black body with deep brown highlights with a frothy tan head, slowly diminishing. Chocolate aroma with notes of roasted malt, coffee, alcohol, licorice, toffee. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes moderately sweet, moderately to heavily bitter and lightly to moderately acidic. Medium to full body, creamy texture and lively carbonation. Starts creamy and sweet with tastes of chocolate, caramel and vanilla, but finishes with a lingering bitterness and notes of licorice. Alcohol warming. Nicely done, though a little too sweet in the beginning, perhaps a result of having aged it.

courtesy of ibrew2or3. Thanks a lot Dave for the vertical epic. Pours dark brown, off white head with golden lacing. Lots of roasted malts, chocolate and some coffee. Some light dark fruits notes. Nothing to say here, this is one epic beer, boozy that coates the palate with malt goodness and some faint notes of bitter hops.

Bottle. Pour is an odd mixture of dark brown, big head and watery appearance. It’s just not as viscous as I expected. Aromas are a great mix of chocolate and dark fruit. Flavor is OK, but mouthfeel is too watery. Chocolate and roasted malt are the main draws, but there are some dark fruit and anise undercurrents.

Finally, after trying this three other times I scribble down a few notes. Pours deep darkness with mocha head. The aroma is slightly chalky at first then quickly followed by full on chocolate goodness. Behind that I get roasty to burnt malts with dark fruity esters hanging out in the background. The taste is just the same with rich chocolate and a thin layer of rich dark fruity esters. It then becomes roastier with some mild burnt malts to round things out. This brew is aging wonderfully. No hops in this beer at all.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a medium light brown foamy head with great retention and very good lacing. Aroma of deep coffee notes with some creamy black chocolate and some lightly bitter roasted malt. Taste is a very well balance with a very nice coffee notes with some delicate black chocolate and a perfect creamy texture. Full body with good carbonation and some well hidden alcohol. This is very sublime and probably the best I had from this very fine brewery.
