500 ml bottle. A reddish amber body with a thin beige head. Aroma of burnt sugar, malt and ginger. Flavor is smooth, sweet malty, caramel, ginger and a kind of bitterness. Medium body and an aftertaste dominated by sweet malt and ginger. Not particular elegant, neither really original, but I find it rather pleasant anyway even if it tend to be one-dimensional and anonymous.

0.5l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. This is a crystal clear dark nutty-brown one with a small sidesticking and bubbly off-white head. The aroma is light buttery, caramel-malty, some fruity tones and clear hint's of spices. Fennel seeds perhaps? Not to bad. It has a clear burned flavor all the yaw. At first quite disturbing actually, and it does not get any better. Also it has a near soapy-bitter touch that evolves near the finish. It feels really thin and almost watery in the mouth, and it has a really soft carbonation level. A boring and not particularly good one, but still drinkable. 16.06.2012

Bottle. A clear, dark golden beer topped by a finger-thick, off-white head. Very weak aroma, with licorice, grass some dough and succade. Cardamom, dough, a touch of licorice and some faint bitterness in the flavor. Medium body, low but pleasant carbonation level. Short finish. A strange one, but drikable. 120413

Cask @ JDW Elgin
Dark amber, hazy, thin white head, some lacing
Aroma - spices, touch of ginger, caramel malts
Taste - spices, ginger, sweet caramel malts, some dark sweet fruits, touch of toffee, light bitter hops
Palate - soft carb, medium body. Finish as main flavour, bit of a spicy malt linger, slight sourness
Overall - Quite a spicy beer - could pass off as an Xmas ale

500 ml bottle, as Strathaven / Craigmill Lord Kelvin Centennial, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.7%. Deep copper coloured beer, moderate head, slightly off-white. Pleasant aroma of caramel and ripe red fruits. The flavour has notes of caramel, brown bread baked with dark syrup, and lightly toasted malts, balanced by a moderate fruitiness and decent hops in the finish. Just the slightest touch of ginger and chocolate. A very enjoyable brew. Even though Lord Kelvin himself miscalculated the age of the earth by some billion years, he probably still deserves a toast in his honour.

Cask at JDW ... Crisp copper ... slightly spiced nose ... no taste up front ... huge burnt toffee malt that was really quite nice.
