Bottle from Tomlinsons. It pours dark amber with minimal head. The nose is toasty, earth, leather, dried fruits and caramel. The taste is caramel, dried fruits, toast, mild tang and dull cocoa with a dryish. Light+ body and low/no carbonation. A bit flat and dull. So-so.

Golden brown. Smells rotten and a bit sour. Body at least has a cleaner tartness. Sweet malts have a touch of brown sugar character.

Bottle shared on the train from Wick to Thurso, from Tomlinsons, 20/10/13. Clear copper with a decent off white head. Nose is bready malts, cereal, apple skin, earthy, biscuit, toffee. Taste comprises light vegetal notes, faint toffee, grain, bready malts, cardboard, brown bread. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish. The twigometer was rising into amber on this one - not one to head back for !

In bottle in various places all over sky - the first was at the Claymore Restaurant in Broadford. This is a really well made amber/bitter - plenty of apple and toffee on nose and taste, good texture, nice refreshing finish. Truly a journey for the palate to experience.
