Feb 2009: Brown 500ml bottle, poured into a UK pint sleeve glass. The rear label asked for the beer to be served cool, it was. Light amber, dull gold in colour with a good firm foaming off-white head. Pioneer Hops and White Malts are used in the brew and the hops could clearly be found in the fairly sweetish aroma, my nose isnโt good enough to pick out individual types of hops, even if I knew them! Bitter and refreshing, tangy and tart, but not dry or coy. A true English Bitter in every sense. Good hop retension in the mouthfeel, the bitterness from them obviously stays too. This is a well balanced beer and one Iโd love to try on cask one day (soon).

A pretty standard British golden ale, with grassy aroma, flavoured with some floral-fruity notes and ending up in a weak dry, bitter finish. Watered palate (Cask at GBBF, 08.08.2008).

Bottle, Barleycorns, Nantwich. A summer drink for a summer that is yet to quite ignite. Poured a golden colour with a thinnish white head. Malty, sweet aroma. Some fruit and hop present in the flavour which again is a bit on the sweet side. Easy drinking. Quite enjoyed this.

Cask@GBBF2007. Golden colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is fruity hops with some wooden hints. Flavour is earthy, cellary, fruity hops and some caramel malts. Finish and aftertaste are spicy and grassy in an unpleasant way.

[Cask at GBBF] Clear golden. Peachy nose. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel and low bitterness. A lightly fruity but otherwise neutral beer that stays well in the background.

(Cask at Ye Cracke, Liverpool, 25 July) Pale copper colour with a frothy disappearing head. Nose is malty and nutty with a spicy hop aroma. Taste is malty, nutty (hazelnut), with notes of apricot and a dry, spicy, fairly bitter finish. Well made, but hardly exciting.
