Bottle from Just In Beer, Groningen. Aroma is sweet malt with caramel, toffee, dried fruits, mild syrupy with some brown sugar, raisins. Sweet flavour with a moderate to medium bitterness, body is medium to full with a mildly sticky texture. Pretty rich malt profile, lots of toffee and caramel, with dried fruits. Could be a bit more complex, enjoyable sweet malt.

Bottle. Color: Clear ruby to copper, thin very light brown head. Batch 0056, bbf 10/2018, which is pretty strange because of earlier review here on Ratebeer with batch 0056, bbf 30/06/2017. Closer inspection of the label shows a sticker that is put over the Original label, reading bbf 30/06/2017. What did happen over here? Who put that sticker on the label? Aroma: Notes of red fruit, caramel, hints of raisins. Taste: Rather sweet light roasted malty, notes of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, dried red fruit. Hints of nuts. Bit sweetish boozy, mostly at the finish. Flat, no carbonation. Lightly sticky mouthfeel. Not bad, but a bit too sweet and a bit too flat, lacking complexity in my opinion.

Dark coppery color with a light beige head, short duration with nice lacework. Aroma has notes of ripe fruit, liquorice and prunes. Flavor is slightly sweet, toasted malts with dry fruits. Good presence of alcohol in the final with sweet notes. Creamy mouthfeel.

AROMA: moderate dried fruit aroma (dried grapes), blended with notes of slight caramel, toffee and vinous with the same intensity. APPEARANCE: dark amber and almost clear. medium-low dark ivory head with medium-low retention. lace formation. TASTE: medium to medium-high sweet malt flavor with nutty, caramelly and slight roastiness. faint dried grapes note. moderate vinous presence. medium to medium-high bitterness with a dry finish. PALATE: medium-full body with medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a good and enjoyable old ale-style beer.

Bottle @ home. Clear amber color, medium sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, lightly smoke, butter. Taste malts, caramel, smoke, leaves, sweet-bitter, rotting leaves, herbs or spices. Average body, decent carbonation. Pretty crappy. Why did I pay 5.75 euros for this? Orginal rating: 4-3-4-3-6= 2.0 -- Tried it again a day later and it wasn’t nearly as bad as yesterday. Still a bit weird and glue-like aroma, but the flavor is sweetish more than anything. Drinkable this time.
